Some contestants in the Miss Universe Indonesia beauty pageant have filed a complaint with the police for being sexually assaulted by the organizers.

Lawyers representing the three contestants who filed the lawsuit said that two days before the final on August 3, the contestants had to take off their shirts to check their bodies and take pictures.

Jakarta police said they will investigate the incident and the Miss Universe Indonesia organization will conduct a separate investigation, the Miss Universe Indonesia pageant owner said.

Likewise, the Miss Universe organization has announced that it will take reports of sexual misconduct seriously. During the press conference, a contestant revealed that the autopsy was conducted in a closed room, but men were also present and outsiders could see because the door of the room was not sealed.

Competitions have long been allowed in Indonesia, but contest organizers must ensure that they do not conflict with conservative views.
